Campden Surgery Newsflash December 2021

Flu and Covid booster Vaccine Programmes

These vaccine programmes are still progressing, with patients being contacted by the North Cotswold Vaccine hub. Covid vaccines can be given together with the flu vaccine so patients are offered their flu vaccine at the same appointment as their booster. There are also separate flu vaccine clinics which can be booked by those patients who are eligible. The number for the hub for any queries is 01608 692115.  Covid boosters are now showing on the NHS app.

Clinical fridges for Vaccines

We would like to thank the Chipping Campden Community Trust for funding 2 new clinical fridges for the surgery to store the additional vaccines we have needed this year for covid and flu immunisations.  These fridges are well equipped to also help the surgery moving forward for existing and future NHS vaccination programmes and we are very grateful for the funding.

Chipping Campden Surgery Friends

We would like to thank Rachel Cunynghame, who has now stepped down as Chair of the group, for her years of service helping the practice fund equipment and other items with the help of donations from patients.  We welcome Jeff Price, the new Chair of the group, and look forward to continuing working with the new and existing trustees.  The surgery friends have recently purchased a new doppler machine for the surgery, which brings the latest technology for diagnosing and monitoring   patients with circulatory problems in their lower limbs.

Dr Williams and Dr Hodgkins

We say a sad farewell to Dr Jacquie Williams at the end of December and will miss her enormously for her care and compassion for both patients and staff.  We welcome Dr Nikki Hodgkins, who joins us at the beginning of December for a handover period with Dr Williams.

To all of our patients

We wish all of our patients a very happy and healthy festive season.  The surgery is open as normal apart from the bank holidays.  Please order medication in plenty of time to cover the Christmas period.  The practice is still experiencing a very highly pressured working environment, with patient demand and expectation at extremely high levels and workload increasing by approximately 20% along with increased staff absences and recruitment issues.  The partners respectfully ask patients to consider this when contacting the practice and to treat our staff with respect and courtesy at this time.

Due to this increased NHS workload, we are currently deferring Private work such as medical examinations for employment, DVLA, etc, to January.

We are all hopeful for calmer times in 2022.
