There have been reports in the media that weight loss injections (mounjaro, ozempic etc) will be available from the end of June on the NHS and we are getting a few queries.
The weight management team in Gloucester is in the process of setting up a pathway which is expected in the next year, but we don’t know which patients will be eligible for treatment under the NHS yet. We will put updates on our website and facebook page once we have any more information.
Accessing Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) in Gloucestershire
Tirzepatide (Mounjaro™) is a weight loss drug that was approved by the National Institute for Health and Care and Excellence (NICE) in the UK on 23 December 2024.
We are anticipating guidance from NHS England which will help us implement our plans to prescribe this drug to people with the greatest clinical need in a safe and effective way, alongside a reduced-calorie diet, increased physical activity and psychological support.
