Advanced nurse practitioners

Corinne Beirne

Working days: Mondays/Tuesdays/Thursdays and Fridays.

I qualified as a nurse in 1992 and after a few years of hospital nursing, joined a general practice nursing team. Starting out as a treatment room nurse, I subsequently undertook additional qualifications so that I could offer support in the management of long-term conditions such as diabetes, respiratory disease, and heart disease.

I am also able to prescribe medication. In 2022, I completed a master’s degree in advanced clinical practice and now work as an advanced nurse practitioner supporting GPs with on the day work and general reviews. My special interest continues in the management of long-term conditions and personalised care. When I’m not at work, I enjoy walking, playing netball and spending time with family and friends.

Stella Clarkson

Working days: Wednesdays and Fridays.

I qualified as a nurse in 2003 and spent the first 10 years of my career in community nursing. During this time, I completed my specialist practice qualification, making me a fully qualified district nurse. Since 2014, I have been working in general practice, progressing from nurse practitioner to advanced nurse practitioner in 2019. I assess patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly. My areas of interest include frailty and the care of the elderly, as well as tissue viability.
